Central Sector Free Coaching Scheme for SC and OBC Students

The Central Government is inviting online application form for free coaching scheme for SC / OBC students at coaching.dosj.gov.in. In this case, the Government of India will provide full coaching fee or fixed coaching fee (where less) for them. Local students get Rs. 3000 while outstation students get Rs. 6,000 with a special allowance of Rs. Disabled for course duration up to 2000. All interested candidates from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) classes can now apply online on the official website.

The empowerment of the weaker sections has been a priority area of concern for the Government since independence. A number of plans and programmes are being implemented for assisting them so as to enhance their skills and capabilities for ensuring rapid economic development and integration in the national mainstream.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has issued revised Scholarship Guidelines for "Central Sector Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students". The annual family income of the applicant who wants to make a free coaching scheme for SC / OBC student registration is Rs. Should be less than. 8 lakh annually. The only mode of getting help for coaching under this scheme is through online mode and applications must be submitted before the last date i.e. by 18th September 2020.

Courses for Coaching will be given to SC / OBC Students

The courses for which the Coaching will be imparted shall be as follows
  • Group A and B examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and the various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).
  • Group A and B examinations conducted by the State Public Service Commissions.
  • Officers’ Grade examinations conducted by Banks, Insurance Companies and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs)
  • Premier Entrance Examinations for admission in 
    • (a) Engineering (eg. IIT-JEE), 
    • (b) Medical (eg.NEET), 
    • (c) Professional courses like Management (eg. CAT) and Law (eg. CLAT), and 
    • (d) Any other such disciplines as Ministry may decide from time to time.
  • Eligibility tests/examinations like SAT, GRE, GMAT and TOEFL.
  • Entrance examination tests for CPL courses/ National Defence Academy and Combined Defence Services. 

Eligibility Criteria and Selection of Beneficiary Students

Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria mentioned below will be eligible for free coaching scheme for SC / OBC students.
  • Students should be selected by the coaching institute on the basis of the academic criteria prescribed by the institute. For SC / OBC candidates, the institute can relax this criterion.
  • Only students affiliated to SC and OBC, whose total family income is Rs. Under.8.00 lakh or more will be eligible for benefits under the annual plan.
  • Benefits under the scheme can be availed by a particular student, not twice, regardless of the number of opportunities.
  • Where the examination is conducted in two stages. Candidates will be entitled to free coaching for both the preliminary and major examinations. They will be entitled to get free coaching twice for preliminary and main examinations as per their convenience. However, there will be no restriction on the number of coaching opportunities for the interview, if the candidate opts for the interview.
The selected student must participate in all classes. If any student is absent for 15 days without any valid reason, the benefits of free coaching will be discontinued.

Stipend / Special Allowance under Free Coaching Yojana

Stipend

Monthly stipend of Rs. 3000/- per student will be paid for local students for attending the coaching class. Similarly, Rs.6000/- per student will be paid per month for outstation students. The stipend will be paid till the duration of the course or for one year, whichever is less. The stipend to each student shall be paid directly by the Ministry through DBT.

Special Allowance

Students with disabilities would also be eligible for Special Allowance of Rs. 2000/- per month towards reader allowance, escort allowance, helper allowance etc. having valid disability certificate (equal to or more than 40% disability). This will be in addition to the stipend mentioned in para 8 ii) above.

How to Apply for Central Sector Free Coaching Scheme for SC and OBC Students

  • The scheme will be widely advertised through electronic media etc. giving summarized information about the Scheme. The applicants shall, after assessing their eligibility and suitability as per the Eligibility conditions of the Scheme, will be required to apply online on this Ministry’s portal, i.e. coaching.dosje.gov.in., along with details of course he/she intends to join.
  • The portal will remain open for one month twice a year i.e. during July, 2020 and January, 2020 for receiving applications.
  • The applicants will be required to upload their applications alongwith prescribed supporting documents.
  • No offline applications will be entertained. Only online applications complete in all respects, shall be considered for assistance.All the incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. However, the rejected candidates will have the option to apply in the subsequent phases of selection.
